Garlicky bread sticks are here to stay!! Usually I just go for making loaves of bread and later slathering them in garlicky, buttery goodness and re-toasting, but why not take out a step and slather them the second they come out of the oven! These little bread sticks are cute, delicious, easy to eat, and pretty darn easy to make. I decided to freeze a bunch of these to go along with easy weeknight dinners. I think they should reheat well!
If you want to make your own bread dough, you can follow this recipe. Otherwise you can use store bought pizza dough. I love making my own and try to do so as often as possible, but sometimes it doesn’t happen!
All you need is 16 oz. of pizza dough, 4 Tablespoons butter, 3 cloves of garlic, 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 3 teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
Start off by preheating the oven to 425 degrees.
Let the dough get to about room temperature and oil up a cutting board, or any flat, smooth surface.
Then smoosh out the dough into a fairly thick rectangle looking thing.
Then using a pizza cutter or long knife, cut the dough into strips.
Oil a baking pan and after stretching out the strips a bit, place them a little apart on the pan. You can also twist them for a cute look!
Bake them in the oven for 20 minutes, until nice and golden brown.
While they are baking, mix together the buttery goodness.
Melt 4 Tablespoons of butter and place in a bowl.
Grate 3 cloves of garlic on a microplane, or just chop really finely.
Chop up a small bunch of parsley (about 1 Tablespoon) very finely.
Add it to the butter along with 1 teaspoon of dried basil…
and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder for extra garlickiness.
Mix it all up completely!
Take those toasty sticks out of the oven and place them on a cooling rack over a baking pan.
Use a pastry brush or a spoon to cover the bread sticks in the mixture, making sure to get all the good bits of garlic and parsley over the sticks.
Let them sit a little if you can!!! Or wrap them up to freeze! Mangia!! Recipe card is below!
