That’s right, we flew to good ol’ Oklahoma for Christmas. My momma was born there and although she did not live there full time ever again, she frequently visited her grandmother who lived in Lawton, which is how she came to meet my dad. He was stationed at Ft. Sill and they were set up on a blind date. The rest was history. It’s also where my aunt and uncle met, and where my grandparents met. So I guess it’s a pretty special place.
My mom and my uncle recently bought the property that my grandfather (Papaw) grew up on. My uncle built an awesome ranch on the beautiful scenic property that fit all fourteen of the family for Christmas. They even built this awesome outdoor grill/fireplace. Yes, I am most excited about the cooking vessels.
There are tons of great areas to walk and hike and soak it all in. Here are the main men in my life…Uncle, Dad, Hubby, and Brother. It was awesome having them all together. A lot of the landscape may be brown, but it sure is beautiful.
Here’s a few of the hubs. He’s pretty dang handsome and he fit right in.
Here are the beautiful railroad tracks that run through my mom’s property. We looked like we are doing something important here, but we’re not.
This mountain is where we sprinkled most of my papaw’s ashes. He sure loved to climb up its rocky slope, and we do too!
Love you family!

We also had some fabulous food while we were there!!! My aunt made some amazing chile verde pork. My mom made some killer clover leaf rolls and squash casserole. I made some BBQ and Blue Steak Lettuce Wraps and Pomegranate Margaritas. Posts on those yummies coming soon!
